How to import fast gps coordinates of lots of images to Excel?
Dec 31, 2020
Hello,
I have hundreds of photos. They have gps coordinates which we can see in properties of each file. I would like to export that data to MS Excel in one column in efficient way. How to do it?
I have already tried softwares like "memento database", "easy database", "mobi db" with no effect. These are apps for android where you can make data base with images but they dont have access to meta data (properties/details ) of each file.
Thanks for help!

Using Google, I found this:
https://exiftool.org/
https://www.colorpilot.com/exif.html
Maybe you will find a way to get it work with one of these porgrams. I don't have any experience but I would expect that it should be possible to solve the problem this way
Best regards
Holger

I've never heard of colorpilot, but here is the exiftool command that does it:
exiftool -filename -gpslatitude -gpslongitude -T DIR > out.txt

Thank you very much. I helped me solve my problem. If anyone had such a problem I can tell you this:
colorpilot seems quite easy to multiprocess (process at least several images at one time) the import of gps data to excel however that multiprocessing option costs about 100 USD. So it is too much for me.
Exiftool is free of charge (an open-source one) but there is no graphic interface (only command line interface) so it seems hard. Fortunately I have found such a video tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6v-Cg0fQbQ
And it is a complete answer how to import fast gps coords to .csv (Excel reads .csv just fine).

Thank you for that answer. Exiftool is big and free and such a command should work.

Not sure why you would need a multithreaded application to do this? How many files do you have?
ExifTool by Phil Harvey, although a bit slow to start, it processes large batches of files pretty quickly - well fast enough for me
I just ran a quick test, and it took about 1 minute to scan about 3,600 files; total file size was about 18.2 GB (stored on SSD)
the win10 command lines I used, yours would be different as you want the GPS data, which another poster provided more details on the exifTool options to do that.
time /t
exiftool.exe *.* -r . > fileData.txt

We can insert multiple images using the Image function in Excel and then resize them simultaneously. Please do the following. On the worksheet, click Insert > Picture. Open the folder containing the images you will insert in the Insert Picture dialog box, select the few images you want, and click the Insert button. Highlight those images and resize them immediately by entering a new number in both Width and Height boxes in the Size group on Format Tab. I generally like to make graphs and then take on work, as it's easier for me to work that way. And I know many types of graphs that will help make it easier for me. I found them at https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/resources/excel/study/types-of-graphs , and I learned a lot there, so if you're interested in information on this topic, you're welcome to read on.
